Johor To Implement Plan In Bid To Circumvent The Threat Of “Perverse LGBT Culture” Among Citizens

Via a Facebook post published on Tuesday (August 23), State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid noted that The Johor state government will devise a strategy to combat the threats posed by the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) lifestyle in the state.

“LGBT culture and all perverse practices which violate customs and the Sharia law must be prevented. I officiated the Islamic Counselling Symposium today. The participants were presented with research and findings as well as a forum to explain the dangers of the culture the methods of prevention.

“The programme, organised by PUSPANITA Johor State & Family Development Division, Department of Islamic Religion Johor State is excellent and should be multiplied. We also had the opportunity to hear the experiences of individuals who have previously been caught up in this issue.

“We should also never forget the efforts that have been carried out by a number of political parties and non-governmental organisations that have tried to subtly legitimise this perverse culture when trying to ratify ICERD, the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination in 2018,” he wrote, adding that Islamic religious education is the core in fortifying ourselves and society from engaging in actions that can invite the wrath of Allah SWT.

At a media conference that took place after the state-level Islamic counselling symposium, he also noted that the Family Development Division of the Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) has primed modules and plans to avoid the lifestyle from becoming widespread.

“We don’t want to dismiss the well-being of young people who are facing such hurdles. I presume we have enhanced modules that will be incorporated in phases in Johor,” he said, outlining that the programme will place more emphasis on activities appropriate for youngsters.

Simultaneously, he stated that the state government will adopt a policy for women in the state through Yayasan Pembangunan Keluarga Darul Ta’zim (YPKDT) to embolden the community, while also emphasising LGBT prevention measures.

According to Mohd Fared, the Johor Islamic Religious Council (MAINJ) and JAINJ will collaborate to contribute suggestions to ensure the policy’s effectiveness.

“To enable (women’s) independence, the Johor Women’s Policy will include education, law, family, and enforcement,” he contended, as reported by The Sun.
