It’s the End of the World as We Know It, and We Feel Fine: Part II

If you’re wont to believe in Mayan bullcrap, 2012 will be the last year terra firma stands firm. JUICE seeks the help of saged scenesters to give us a look into the crystal ball for a much needed insight into what will happen in the year 2012, hoping to gain some foresight of what will end in the year (if not the world). Rather, some tell us of their predictions, others of what they want to happen, and some offer fantasy scenarios. We’re not complaining, it’s better than watching John Cusack in 2012 the movie again…

2011 proved to be a good year for some and a sh*tty year for a few, but let bygones be bygones and let’s move forward and welcoming the much anticipated 2012. The year sh*t hits the fan.

The Mayans predicted 2012 to be the year of the Apocalypse. British media activist Rik Clay predicted the London Olympics to be the epicentre of the new Zion aka The New World Order. Julian Assange’s Wikileaks reported high UFO activity in the coast of Mexico and the Arctic.

As far as conspiracy theories are concerned, these ideas can be considered, but till it actually happens, life will go on as usual for me. No, I don’t want our world to end nor do I want any extra problems added on to the magnitude of what the world is already facing socially and environmentally, but if you ask me what I’d like to see ending or improved locally, then here are some of my thoughts.

No Action Talk Only
People that seem to bitch and bicker about all kinds of issues but never seem to contribute or do their part in making a difference. May it be the traffic, music scene or the government. Make yourself functional and rectify the issue rather than just pointing it out.

No Stress Drive
Driving in KL can be really stressful, besides the unavoidable traffic jams, potholes and roadworks, you will have to face rowdy drivers with anger management issues and be alert of careless and irresponsible ones that might stray into you at any given moment. Till the public transportation system is finally figured out, let’s do each other a favour and try to avoid unnecessary stress and accidents.

Unsafe Sex
F**king is an amazing feeling and everyone has the right to enjoy the act of pleasure. All I’m saying is be responsible and practice safe sex aka wear a condom. What’s more important that this awareness is widespread to the young and naïve, preventing them from making mistakes that they will end up regretting.

No Tax on Musical Instruments
There is no argument that we have great musicians among us and this is proven with the likes of Yuna and Zee Avi making it internationally as well as Altimet and Monoloque changing the landscape locally. All these talents need to be constantly supported in order for them to sustain and keep on performing and producing more good work. Besides providing more platforms and incentives, I believe that taxes should be lowered on musical items making them more affordable to musicians.

Human Interaction
While social networking and technology have become an integral part of our current society, let’s not end up being trapped in these devices and lose the essentials of human communication. Make time to socialise and interact with family and friends, travel and explore the outdoors. Discover new experiences and diversify. I will leave it till that for now and till D-Day actually hits, let’s take care of one another.

Love and Peace!
