“I Can’t Please Everyone”: Uncle Kentang Receives Criticism For Scolding A Man Who Soiled Himself
Kuan Chee Heng, better known as Uncle Kentang, is popular for his generous acts of charity and belief that there doesn’t have to be a specific time and place to help someone, no matter their background.
Last week, Kuan dealt with a homeless man who has been sleeping outside of someone’s shop. He describes the events in a Facebook post on Thursday, 8 October.
Kuan and his team arrived at the scene after being tipped off by the public. They found a homeless man who had defecated all over himself and was laying down on the floor in the mess.
According to the Facebook post, this wasn’t the first time he had seen this man and received complaints about his activities.
The social activist and his team tried to get the homeless man to stand up so that they could start cleaning up the floors, but he wasn’t cooperating.
He seemed unwilling and was “believed to have problems,” as stated in an earlier Facebook post.
This prompted Uncle Kentang to raise his voice and use the “hard way to deal with him.” The scene of him scolding the homeless man drew the attention of a passerby, who criticised him for being rude.
“I have my way of handling matters. I know when to be polite and gentle. I can’t please everyone. To solve the problem, I will continue to do what I think is right,” said Kuan in response in the post.
The team managed to coax the homeless man onto an ambulance to seek medical help and treatment at the hospital.
He is believed to be Malaysian and the team is currently working on getting his identity verified at the National Registration Department.
