JOHOR BAHRU
SATURDAY 15 SEPTEMBER 2012
@LOST MALAYA
The final stop of Heineken Progressive Tour x JUICE  is at the very bottom of the Peninsular, whose nightlife scene is still untapped. We managed to enlist the help of locals anyway in the form of the very bizarre KBnL Dancefloor Hell crew. We intend on bringing KL there, but we might just bring JB back home instead!

NICK HAYDEZ
Self-described “epitome of modern day rave music,” like a lot of DJs Nick begun spinning in his bedroom before being mentored by none other than Bryan Burger. In a matter of a few years, Nick has made quite a name for himself. He’s joined forces with Foulworks after performing with them for their club night Rave and now spins with them as Ultramode. Nick has also shared decks with the likes of renowned international spinmeisters like Beens, Calvin Harris, and Le Castle Vania. It’s hard to pinpoint his genre of choice, but expect nu rave, electro, indie, house and techno. And yes, it’ll be a mix of all four.

DJ FAITH
A seductress behind the decks, DJ Faith has done everything from fashion shows (whether it be as a DJ or model herself), club nights, wedding parties, to grand club openings. Makes sense that she’s become one of the more recognisable female DJs in the scene here. You might have even seen her on TV before, having appeared on Astro Spin Master 2010. Expect breakbeat, electro, disco, house, r’n’b and dirty dutch when she performs at this final stop of the tour.

MINI COMPO
Sounding like something inspired by ’80s-skewed sci-fi visions of a late night drive through KL, this duo’s music is the bastard child of everything from Kraftwerk, Yazoo, Pet Shop Boys, David Bowie to even traces of cantopop legend Sam Hui. And this makes for yet another interesting contradiction, Mini Compo makes music that is evidently reverent to retro synth-heavy pop but draws heavily on Xu’s own electro styling.

KBNL DANCEFLOOR HELL
Johorean collective KBnL Dancefloor Hell is as vague as their name (don’t ask us what KBnL stands for). But if their own bio were to be believed, this trio are space travelling alien sonic movers who came to Johor Bahru with a smile… and a sandwich apparently. That, or faecal matter. Hell if we know!
