Heineken Progressive Tour x JUICE
PENANG
SATURDAY 1 SEPTEMBER 2012
@32MANSION
The first stop of the tour is a city that could give Kuala Lumpur a run out of its money. We don’t even need to bring KL to them, they have their own distinctively Penang-esque party scene. In fact, one of the performers for our stop here was from Penang before making it big in KL; Asquared of Deer Society.
DJ PHIL K LEE
There’s no slowing down DJ Phil K Lee. Just a peek into what he’s been up to the past couple of years since he won Heineken Found @ Thirst 2010, will have you wondering if this guy ever sleeps. The latest of his endeavours is the recently launched monthly event VOLT alongside DJane Viona at Vertigo KL. He’s bound to get your fists pumping to his own brand of House, Progressive House, Techno and Progressive Trance.
DJ DARLING SABRINA
Darling Sabrina is an alumnus of not just one DJ competition, but 3, having been the finalist of Heineken Found @Thirst 2011, Pioneer DJ Battle 2011 and Astro Spin Master 2010. Despite that, she’s a nonconformist, playing a menagerie of euphoric anthems without caring about genre restrictions. Recently, she and fellow Heineken Progressive Tour x JUICE DJ Faith paired up to show the EDM scene what girl power is all about.
DEER SOCIETY
With one of its members having origins in Penang, Deer Society’s set for the tour will be something of a homecoming performance. Comprising 3 members – Asquared, VNRP, Ruud – Deer Society has become more than just a DJ collective, they represent that niche trendsetting sect of KL’s youths, as proven by the regularly packed night they hold at Daikanyama. Having carved their name as a hipster favourite there, Deer Society is destined to expand their fanbase to the rest of the peninsular.
TWILIGHT ACTIONGIRL
Pioneers of Kuala Lumpur’s alternative night scene since their Loft days, Twilight Actiongirl (TAG) is still going strong as evident by their recent yearly secret party with Fred Perry. Experienced TAGgers would know what to expect, in case you guys don’t though, imagine a Pitchfork playlist.
