While everyone is still recovering from the recent vegetable price hike, it seems roti will be joining the trend too.

According to FMT, local bread producer Gardenia Bakeries has revised the retailer and consumer prices of most of its products.

In a letter addressed to its retailers, the company said the increase in the price of its various bread and other bakery products will take effect from 1st Dec.

Gardenia said that the increase is due to the hike in the cost of raw materials and freight charges.

The Gardenia Original Classic Jumbo 600g will cost RM4 instead of RM3.55, while a 400g loaf of Gardenia Bran & WheatGerm which is currently priced at RM2.50 will be increased to RM2.90.

Other new prices include RM3.70 for Gardenia Fluffy Buns and RM1.30 for the Gardenia Puazz buns.

It is also learnt that the domestic trade and consumer affairs ministry will be meeting with Gardenia’s management tomorrow before releasing an official statement.
