Future Music Festival Asia 2013
Date Saturday 16 March ’13
Venue Sepang International Circuit

Mainstage
Continuing the next day is main event Festival de Música de Futuro Asia… alright, alright, we are about done with the random insertions of Spanish. The main stage of FMFA13 features everything from a rotund South Korean whose meme longevity has yet to run out, to a party & bullsh!t thrower, to a band whose hit single might promise them eternal youthfulness (and us annoyance).

PSY
Assuming ‘Gangnam Style’ won’t go out of… well, style by March, the crowd of 20,000+ riding an imaginary horse in synch to LMFAO’s leftover beat would definitely be the highlight of FMFA13.  www.psypark.com

Rita Ora
It’s not every day a British act is signed by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, TLC-channelling Rita Ora is lucky enough to be one of them. As adept at referencing Notorious B.I.G as she is at throwing a party (and bullsh!t), we can’t wait what she has to offer at FMFA13. www.ritaora.com

fun.
If singing along to lyrics about your youthfulness and setting the world on fire hasn’t gotten old by now, we expect bar and pub jam ‘We Are Young’ by fun. to be as much of a euphoria as ‘Gangnam Style’ is. www.ournameisfun.com

Bloc Party
Arguably the most known Brit band today next to Radiohead, Bloc Party has been compared to the aforementioned band, The Cure, Mogwai and Siouxsie and the Banshees. New album Four sees the band throwing out production theatrics and stripped their sound down to its essence, shocking fans and reviewers alike. Some might not like it as much but we dug it quite a bit. Still, here’s hoping that FMFA13 will see more of their old stuff. www.blocparty.com

Temper Trap
What’s an Oz-based festival without one of their bands representing? Formed in 2005, The Temper Trap is one of the few Australian indie bands that have crossed borders. Enough to be featured on Pitchfork. www.thetempertrap.com

Rudimental
One of the few electronic collective that is both crowd-pleasing and musical, Rudimental is EDM’s equivalent to Sly & the Family Stone. www.rudimental.co.uk

DJ Fresh
DJ Fresh might just be too future, bros. New album Nextlevelism lives its namesake, featuring the likes of Rita Ora, Dizzee Rascal, Rizzle Kicks, Professor Green, Ms Dynamite, The Fray and Liam Bailey. Performing his FRESH/LIVE set at FMFA13, the live show incorporates a drummer, guitarist, vocalist, an MC and Fresh himself on keys to recreate his tracks as close as possible to the recorded versions. www.thedjfresh.com

Stafford Brothers
Another FMFA returnee, Stafford Brothers killed it last year. The house music DJ and production duo of Matt Stafford and Chris Stafford based on the Gold Coast, Australia. They are the first Australian DJs to get their own reality TV show on a major network. staffordbrothers.bandpage.com

Timmy Trumpet
It seems like the Stafford Brothers and Timmy come together. Returning to FMFA13 too, Timmy’s brand of EDM mixed with live trumpet playing is more than just a novelty. This guy gave us goosebumps last year. www.timmytrumpet.com

Tenzin
Sydney DJ Tenzin seamlessly blend everything from house & electro to grinding glitch-tech and party disco hop. This cat ain’t just a renowned DJ back home, he’s also the music director for all Australian Fashion Week shows. www.djtenzin.com
