THE COMPLETE HANDBOOK TO SURVIVING FMFA ‘13

D IS FOR DIA DE MUERTOS
Unless you’re a cultural ignoramus, you’d have noticed that Future Music Festival Asia ’13 is built around the Day of the Dead theme. Be an amigo and make the fest livelier by following the theme – apply the Dia De Muertos makeup before you enter festival grounds!

Here’s a quick how-to;

1. Apply primer to entire face.

2. For the snowy skeletal face, apply base over, including on the eyes, and blend them evenly before setting it with translucent power.

3. Map your face with a graphite pencil, detailing which area will be embellished with more permanent products. Start by drawing stiches over the lips and lengthen your lips’ corners by extending them to the cheekbones. Then circle your eyes to the top of the brows. Draw a spade shape over the nose and include extra details and lines wherever you desire (don’t overdo it though).

4. Add shades to the eyes and nose with a gel eyeliner. Use a flat brush with a rounded edge. For better effect, use super slick liquid eyeliner, especially for the stitched mouth effect.

5. Detail the eyes with lipshade.

6. Freestyle the deets on your forehead, from webbing, intricate line patterns to crosses. Use a stiff brush.

7. Use an angled blush brush to apply a grew shadow on your cheek bones before adding a harsh line in order to create the sunken cheeks look. Use eyeliners and blend ‘em with your clean finger.

8. And huzzah, you’re ready to star in a Tim Burton movie.
