Fire Breaks Out at Pavilion KL, Thick Smoke Seen Exiting Rooftop
Thick smoke was seen filing out of Pavilion KL’s rooftop today (30 March) from a fire that started at a restaurant in the luxury mall.
It took 11 firefighters and 2 fire engines to put out the fire from the duck-roasting area at the Dragon-i Peking Duck Restaurant on the first floor of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The incident happened around 2.12pm.
Videos on social media showed the smoke blowing out of the rooftop.
The fire reportedly eventually extinguished itself while 5 fire sprinklers broke due to the heat, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department told Malay Mail.
No casualties or injuries were reported.
Pavilion KL issued a statement saying they would remain open for business and assured patrons and tenants that the mall “will continue to take all necessary precautionary measures” to ensure their safety.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
