Faig Ahmed’s Reinterpreted Azerbajian Rugs

rugs-1

This variety of rugs is expensive for a reason. Just looking at them, you can see the labour and time that are weaved into the tapestry. Artist Faig Ahmed attempts to warp the traditional structure and patterns of these rugs to create designs that play with perception; some rugs look like they’ve surrendered to gravity and decided to melt off the wall, a few play with pixels, contrasting the traditional and the digital age, and they are some that have sculptures with optical illusion patterns on them.
