Dutchman, Marco V isn’t an unfamiliar name in our shores. He’s been here in Malaysia numerous times gracing the decks of infamous clubs and outdoor festivals here. Marco V has evolved from being a tech trance architect to become a full-fledged electronic music maestro. The Dutchman has had a busy year promoting his new concept, T.A.O (The Art Of) which is a music label, event concept and many more. Marco V will be playing his first New Year’s party in Kuala Lumpur and it will also be his first time exploring the country as a tourist.

How excited are you to be returning to Kuala Lumpur for NYE?
Always very, very excited to travel to KL to be honest; I’ve had some of the best shows in my career there. The people are awesome, great atmosphere, always 100% party vibe, what more could I wish for to kick off the new year with.

Are you going to spice things up on the decks?
I am a very dedicated producer if I may say so myself so that makes for an ever evolving progress and change in my sound and music. I try to always produce the best and phattest sounds while staying true to myself, my creativity and my fans. So yes I have loads of new stuff that I will be playing out in KL, unreleased tracks, remixes and bootlegs! So KL, get ready for it!

The New Year’s Party theme is ‘invasion’; do you have a favourite alien/science fiction movie?
Very big Star Wars fan I must say, science fiction is a genre I am into so I like the chosen theme very much. I am also a big fan of the Alien movies so let the invasion begin!

Is there anything in particular you’d like to try out while you’re here?
Well I am sorry to say my schedule usually is so hectic around New Years I will probably fly in right before the gig and will have to leave straight after. I will be taking my holiday in Malaysia but not KL. I would love to go sight seeing in KL and really explore the culture and then get acquainted with local traditions and customs but don’t have the time I am afraid, next time for sure maybe someone can give me some tips so I can prepare for my next trip?

What are some of your favourite things about traveling in Asia?
I absolutely love your cuisine; Asian food is my favourite so I am going to eat a lot! The people are always very nice and the hotels are immaculate so overall I can say I love travelling Asia period.

If you could go on a holiday in any of the Asian countries, which would it be and why?
I have been to Koh Samui in Thailand on holiday a few times, but this year, after NYE here in Kuala Lumpur, I’ll be heading to Borneo. I heard a lot of good things about Malaysia so looking forward to it.

Can you tell us on what you’re working on right now?
At the moment I am working on a few projects, a remix for James Blunt, one for Daddy’s Groove, a collaboration with Marcel Woods, a track of my own, so busy but happy chappy, wouldn’t have it any other way.

Any new collaboration we should be looking out for?
Yes, I am releasing a collaboration with Russel G called ‘Kalevala’ on In Charge Records very soon. And I am creating a monster with Marcel Woods, can’t really tell you much about it yet but keep an eye out on my social media; the release will be announced soon.

Do you have any big plans for 2012?
There are many things lined up for 2012, working on some big collabs, will try to tour as many venues as possible with my TAO (The Art Of) concept and make loads of good music.

Can you give all your Malaysian fans a shout out?
Of course, this one goes out to all my Malaysian fans and KL people; I love you and am looking forward to seeing you all at ESCAPE: NYE. Let’s go out with a bang and start the New Year in the best way we know how, by partying till the roof of KL Live comes off!

Marco V will be spinning at ESCAPE:NYE @ KL Live this New Year’s Eve. Check him out here
