Wrestler-turned-Hollywood actor, Dwayne Johnson confirmed that he and his family had contracted Covid-19 in a recent video post on Instagram.

The former WWE superstar, who is now the world’s highest-paid actor, said he, his wife and two daughters caught the virus despite being “disciplined” about health protection. He said the positive tests were “a kick in the gut”.

Dwayne also confirmed that they are no longer contagious as his entire family detected the virus almost two weeks ago. The 48-year-old said his two daughters – Jasmine, 4, and Tiana, 2 – only experienced minor symptoms like a sore throat but he and his wife “had a rough go.”

He said in the short clip,

“I wish it was only me who tested positive, but it wasn’t, it was my entire family, so this one was a real kick in the gut… But I am happy to tell you guys that we as a family are good. We’re on the other end of it, we’re on the other side. We’re no longer contagious, and we are – thank God – we are healthy.”

He explained that they caught the virus from “very close family friends” who, in turn, had no idea how they had been infected.

Coming out on the other end, the action star implored his followers to take the necessary precautions, such as wearing a face mask and boosting their immune system, summing up this approach as “control the controllable.”

Dwayne also stressed the need to take an extra precautionary step – testing family friends for Covid-19 before visiting each other’s houses.

“Have them get tested the day before. If they test positive, then stay away. If they don’t, then come over,” he urged.
