Dr M Says Agong Has Agreed to Granted An Immediate Pardon For Anwar
According to The Star, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamed said that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V has agreed to a full and immediate pardon for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during a press conference after a Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting.
“The Agong has told (DAP secretary-general) Lim Guan Eng that he has agreed to granting a full pardon to Anwar,” said Dr M. “We will go through the proper process of obtaining the pardon for Anwar. It’s going to be a full pardon, which means that he is not only pardoned but released immediately,” he added.
However, it still remains unclear when the pardon will be issued. Dr M also warned supporters that it “might take a long time” for Anwar to become MP again.
Additionally, the Pakatan Harapan government will investigate government agencies for corruption, according to The Star.
“Our intention is to go for people who have shown a tendency to be corrupt or who have committed known corrupt acts,” said Dr M at the same press conference on Friday.
Dr M said that he will “look into” Attorney-General (AG) Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali, Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah, well as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for further investigation. Those who are found to be corrupt will be dealt with according to the law, said the Prime Minister.
