A24 has unveiled the first official poster for Tony, the upcoming Anthony Bourdain biopic starring Dominic Sessa, with the film’s first trailer set to drop tomorrow.

Fresh off standout roles in The Holdovers and Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, Sessa steps into the role of the legendary chef and writer, offering audiences their first look at his transformation through the newly released poster.

The image shows Sessa suited up in a chef’s apron, giving off the kind of tense, back-of-house kitchen energy fans of The Bear will instantly recognise. He stars alongside Emilia Jones, Leo Woodall and Antonio Banderas.

Printed across the poster is a sharply self-aware quote attributed to Bourdain: “I was – to be frank – a spoiled, miserable, narcissistic, self-destructive and thoughtless young lout, and badly in need of a good ass-kicking,” hinting at the brutally candid tone the film seems to be embracing.

Directed by Matt Johnson, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Matthew Miller, Todd Bartels and Lou Howe, Tony marks another character-driven project from the filmmaker behind Nirvana the Band the Show and BlackBerry.

Set in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1976, the film follows a 19-year-old Bourdain working in a local restaurant during a formative year that would shape his future. The story draws inspiration from his seminal memoir, Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly.

Tony is currently slated for an August 2026 theatrical release, though it remains unclear for now whether the film will screen in Malaysian cinemas.
