Doctor on Covid-19 Duty Lives Inside His Car to Keep His Family Safe
Frontliners deserve gratitude and respect for going out of their way to make sure that everyone is safe during this trying time. No one should underestimate the blood, sweat, tears and sacrifices that have to be made. One touching story is of a doctor, who lives inside his car to prevent the virus from spreading.
Dr. Sachin Nayak, who works in JP Hospital in Bhopal, India, decided to make his car his home for the next few days to protect his wife and child from the possibility of contracting the infection. After work, he would go live inside his car that’s parked near the hospital, which has been stocked up with essential items and books.
He would read books and talk to his family on the phone or video call, and according to Dr. Nayak, he’s been doing this for about a week.
“When Covid-19 cases started being reported, I wasn’t really afraid but over the last few days, we have seen positive cases in large numbers. So I’ve decided to live in my car,” he said.
A photo of him living in his car went viral on social media and even reached Chief Minister of Madya Pravesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who praised his efforts and determination in a tweet.
“I and the entire Madya Pravesh are fortunate to have warriors like you who are fighting the war against Covid-19. If we continue this with resolve, then we will be able to end this war quickly. Mr. Sachin, I salute your spirit.”
We do too, and would like to extend the salute to all frontliners the world over. Thank you.
