This Showcase Celebrates Neurodiversity Through 12 Days Of Art At The Curve

Neurodiversity is not a barrier, but a spectrum of creativity that enriches culture and community. The Discovering A Beautiful Mind exhibition embodies this idea.

Launched by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports YB Adam Adli at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara, the 12-day event runs from 3 to 14 September 2025. It brings together 200 works by 50 artists, both trained and self-taught, celebrating the full range of creative expression across neurotypical and neurodiverse communities.

Organised by Galeri Kita in partnership with Artists’ Corner, the exhibition is designed to advance inclusivity in the arts while strengthening Malaysia’s creative economy. It also acts as a meeting point for collectors, institutions, seasoned practitioners, and emerging artists.

Supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development, the initiative has drawn wide institutional backing. Galeri Kita chairman Dato’ Aminuddin Abdul Manaf also welcomed the involvement of Kraftangan Malaysia, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, NGOs such as NASOM, NAECCEM, and PPBM. Together, these partners reinforce the exhibition’s mission to foster a more inclusive and art-conscious society.

The artworks are available for purchase, with a portion of proceeds directed to art development programmes for students of Galeri Kita and Artists’ Corner.

Families are encouraged to attend, as the event includes interactive workshops and activities for children, offering them a chance to experience the energy of a large-scale art gathering while nurturing their own creative instincts.

The organisers further underscore the broader role of arts and crafts as both cultural heritage and a driver of national development. They called on corporations and the business sector to provide stronger support in building the platforms and infrastructure necessary for Malaysian artists to succeed locally and abroad. Galeri Kita has set its long-term vision on achieving this.

What sets Discovering A Beautiful Mind apart is its inclusion of artists with disabilities. This model not only elevates the artistic value of the works but also challenges the employment gap facing persons with disabilities. The Department of Statistics Malaysia reports over 680,000 registered persons with disabilities in the country, yet only 30% are employed.

In the civil service, the figure remains far below the government’s one percent quota, with just 3,856 civil servants with disabilities recorded in 2023. In this context, the exhibition is not simply cultural but social, creating opportunities and visibility where they are most needed.
