DIIV To Make Long-Awaited Malaysia Debut This July

Shoegaze fans, mark your calendars. DIIV is finally bringing their hazy, immersive sound to Malaysia for the very first time, with Kuala Lumpur confirmed as a stop on their upcoming Asia Tour.

The show will take place on 17 July at Pentas 2, Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac), offering local audiences a rare chance to experience the Brooklyn band’s atmospheric live set up close.

Fronted by Zachary Cole Smith, a model, music video director, and former drummer of Beach Fossils, DIIV has carved out a distinct space in modern alternative music. Since forming in 2011, the band has released three critically acclaimed albums, steadily building a reputation for their reverb-drenched guitars and dreamlike sonic textures.

Their upcoming fourth album, Frog in Boiling Water, was shaped during one of the most difficult periods in the band’s history. The four-year writing and recording process pushed DIIV beyond technical experimentation, testing their personal relationships and collective resilience along the way. The result marks a more reflective and hard-earned chapter in their evolution.

Over the past decade, DIIV has transformed from a lo-fi solo project into a fully collaborative four-piece.

In the process, they have become key figures in the resurgence of shoegaze and dream pop, influencing a new wave of artists drawn to their balance of intensity and atmosphere.

For Malaysian fans, this first-ever show feels especially significant, bringing a band whose influence on modern alternative music has been building steadily over the years into a live setting they’ve been waiting a long time to experience.
