Molek FMCULTURAL SIGNIFIERS: Nadzrin Hakim is Country Proud

Nadzrin is quite the accomplished fellow as his creative efforts for the Sudah Potong? advertisement for P1 won him and his team the prestigious Kancil and Effie Award in 2010. But moving along, many of his work have a distinctive Malaysiana aspect to it, although he does not go out of his way to purposely design those graphics in that manner. He simply becomes inclined to that style of illustration from innocuous acts such as eating local food, meeting local people, and visiting local places. Interestingly, it was when he encountered art outside local geography – the American pride demonstrated by those Yanks on Pinterest boards – that willed him to recreate Malaysiana iterations of the State typography and Windows series, effectively showcasing that Malaysia too, can be just as cool. The art director continues to produce great ads, but he is pursuing a much more personal endeavour — jewellery design — which he describes as a fascinating craft.
