On Tuesday (January 3) at Kilometer 13 of Jalan Klang-Banting-Port Dickson, Selangor, a freight worker was tragically killed after being driven over by a truck, and an engineer from China was assaulted due to his “role” in the incident.

A Toyota Hilux, a Daihatsu Sharade-style car, a SYM 110-style motorcycle, and a trailer were all involved in the collision, which occurred at around 4:30 p.m., based on a report by Sinar Harian from Kuala Langat District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd. Nor Saleh.

It was reported that the 53-year-old Chinese male driving a Toyota Hilux made a U-turn at the traffic light intersection where the collision occurred.

According to a witness, the deceased was riding a motorcycle when a Daihatsu automobile driven by another man veered to the left of the road and crashed into the bike. The rider was then “thrown under” the trailer that was in the left-hand travel lane and his body was sent to the Banting Hospital Forensic Unit for an autopsy.

The Chinese man is believed to have suffered minor injuries as a result of being beaten up by enraged members of the public who blamed him for the crash.

Photos of the incident have surfaced and gone viral online, garnering mixed reactions from netizens with some expressing that they believed the man “had it coming”, while others deemed the civilians’ behaviour inappropriate and violent.

Additionally, due to the fact that he lacked a valid driver’s licence, a summons was issued against him in accordance with Section 26(1) of the Road Transport Act of 1987, and the case is also being investigated in accordance with Section 41(1) of the same law.

At the time of writing, no police report has been lodged on his part.
