Renting a car has changed very little over the last couple of decades. Usually you have to walk in, show your information, pay some money, and walk out with the keys to a car. Ain’t nobody got time fo’ that. Nowadays, renting a car from your phone is a piece of cake. Founded in Malaysia, GoCar is a sustainable car-sharing service that allows members to rent a car on demand via its app.

Renting a car is much economical and preferred for long-distance travelling and is far more convenient than hiring a taxi. When you are driving your own rental car, you can be “your own boss.” It takes out the fuss and irritation from the trip, and it’s up to you whether you want to leave early or late – you can make as many stops as you want!

All you need to do with this app is book and drive. Amazingly, GoCar started off with only one car, a Perodua Viva, but the fleet today has expanded to 70 Nissan Almeras and counting. In order for you to get the car, just pick it up at the nearest pick-up points from your place like Mont Kiara, Bangsar, Cyberjaya, Petaling Jaya, Langkawi, and more. And don’t worry as they come with insurance, proper Road Transport Authority Licencing, and also petrol.

If you’re planning to book the car for a few hours, just know that the hourly rate can be as low as RM14.90 including petrol and insurance. For a whole day? RM99. This is inclusive of insurance, and the car will be all yours for 24 hours. There are only two conditions if you wanna get started. You have to be at least 21 years old with a full valid driver’s licence and there’s a one-time membership fee of RM50 upon making your first reservation.
