When sheer luxury and engineering prowess come together, you get France-based Bugatti. Known for making some of the most expensive and ludicrously overpowered hypercars in the world, it’s not surprising to see their cars cost upwards of US$3 million (RM13 million).

With the Bugatti Bolide, which started its first deliveries in early 2024, you’d need to fork out at least US$4.7 million, or roughly RM20.9 million. But that’s just the starting price. Most Bugatti owners add extra options and configurations, further bloating the final price tag. Because why not?

The first Bugatti Bolide owner in Asia just so happens to be Malaysian IT tycoon and passionate car collector, Chin Jit Pyng—more popularly known as JP Chin.

A track-only hypercar

For those not in the know, when a car is track-only, it means it’s not street-legal. It can only legally be driven on a professional racing circuit. So don’t expect to see a Bugatti Bolide going for a casual drive on our bumpy, pothole-ridden Malaysian roads.

In a series of Q&A videos posted on Instagram, Chin says he has floated the idea of Bugatti holding a track day at Sepang International Circuit (SIC). That way, he can let his Bolide stretch its legs without having to ship it all the way to Europe, where most of the planned Bugatti track days will be taking place in 2025.

But it’s not a surprise that such a wildly powerful and expensive car has arrived in Chin’s collection. The man owns one of the largest car and motorbike collections in Southeast Asia, and most of it resides in the JPM Museo in Kota Damansara. You can even visit by appointment, or whenever they hold special events.

According to Chin, his Bugatti Bolide is just a little over the starting price, stating he didn’t add too many extra specs or configurations to it. We guess that makes sense, since it’s not a road-going car anyway. And of course, the Bugatti Bolide isn’t even the first Bugatti in Chin’s collection. He also owns a Bugatti Chiron (from RM13 million) and a Bugatti Divo (from ~RM23.7 million).

Only 40 units of the Bugatti Bolide have been produced, and Chin’s is #39. Once all allocations have been delivered to their respective owners, Bugatti won’t be making the Bolide anymore. This makes it super rare and exclusive, can’t relate. 🥲
