A Sea of 13,000: Bring Me The Horizon And BABYMETAL Command The Crowd At Sunway Lagoon
British metalcore giants Bring Me The Horizon made a powerful return to Malaysia after more than a decade, delivering an unforgettable performance that left 13,000 fans roaring at Sunway Lagoon’s Surf Beach.
Touring in support of their latest album, POST HUMAN: NeX GEn, the band was joined by Japan’s BABYMETAL for a night of explosive energy, organised by top Malaysian concert promoter, Hitman Solutions.
As the third major international rock event hosted by Hitman Solutions this year, the concert proved that Malaysia’s rock scene is as vibrant as ever. The show, titled ‘Bring Me The Horizon Live Featuring BABYMETAL’, drew fans from across the region, filling the country’s largest surf pool with die-hard metalheads.
The night kicked off with a high-octane set from BABYMETAL, the kawaii metal sensation from Japan. Their hour-long performance featured fan-favourite tracks like ‘Gimme Chocolate!!,’ ‘Megitsune,’ and ‘RATATA,’ sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Having performed in Malaysia just a year ago, BABYMETAL was welcomed back with open arms by their devoted Malaysian following, who were thrilled to see them rock the stage once again.
When Bring Me The Horizon finally took the stage, the atmosphere was electric. The band delivered a thrilling two-hour set that seamlessly blended their classic hits, including ‘Can You Feel My Heart?’, ‘Drown’, and fresh tracks from their new album, with BABYMETAL joining in for ‘Kingslayer’.
Their latest release, POST HUMAN: NeX GEn, dropped in May 2024, continues the band’s evolution with a mix of hyperpop and metal-electronica influences, marking the beginning of their ambitious ‘YOUtopia’ project.
The concert was a spectacular showcase of rock excellence, bringing together two of the genre’s most influential acts from the UK and Japan.
Reflecting on the success of the event, Hitman Group CEO & Founder Mr. Rohit Rampal shared, “When we saw the overwhelming excitement from Malaysian fans after Bring Me The Horizon announced their tour, we knew we had to make this show happen.
The combination of British and Japanese metal icons on one stage was a dream come true for fans, not just in Malaysia but across the region. We had fans traveling from Indonesia and Singapore to join in, showing that music truly knows no borders.”
Mr. Rampal also hinted at more exciting events on the horizon, stating, “This incredible turnout reaffirms Malaysia’s status as a leading hub for major music and cultural events. We’re not stopping here – up next, we’re bringing ‘Jilid Rockestra Ella: Rockers Juga Manusia’ to Singapore in October, our first international show of the year, followed by NE-YO’s ‘Live In Malaysia’ concert in November. We’re committed to delivering the acts our audience craves, and we can’t wait for what’s to come.”
With such an unforgettable night of music, Bring Me The Horizon and BABYMETAL have once again proven their dominance in the metal world.
As Malaysia continues to establish itself as a premier destination for top-tier music events, it seems that fans can look forward to even more thrilling performances in the months to come!
