We all have a favourite watering hole. But when it comes to the Asia’s 50 Best Bars list, there’s no denying that the bars included in this prestigious ranking may be in a class above.

And thanks to experiential bar showcase platform BARSTARS, we get to experience the artistry and innovation of 16 of Asia’s best bartenders in two KL bars featured on the aforementioned list this weekend.

A two-day celebration of bartending excellence

Brought to you by The Orientalist Spirits, BARSTARS 2024 will be making the final Asian stop of their global tour in Kuala Lumpur, landing in Penrose and Reka:Bar — ranked #8 and #41 in Asia respectively.

Promising fun festival vibes, the first night (23 August at Penrose) features bartenders including Kiki Moka from The Cocktail Club, Indonesia, and Kai Ng from Quinary, Hong Kong. Bringing things a little closer to home is Naz Zurmi from Sago House, Singapore.

The second and final night (24 August at Reka:Bar) will treat guests to exclusive creations from two of Malaysia’s finest bartenders, Tai Yong from Budi Melaka and Thanesh J. Kumar from Backdoor Bodega.

It is such a fantastic opportunity to shine a spotlight on Asian craftsmanship and bartending so the Malaysian bar-goers get to experience Asia’s best during the festival. We hope to elevate their experience at the event by giving them a taste of our ultra-premium spirits through signature cocktails presented by superstar bartenders from across the region,” says Michel Lu, founder of The Orientalist Spirits.

You’ll get to experience at least one signature cocktail from each featured bartender. Each drink will feature an ultra-premium spirit (vodka, gin, rum, whisky) from The Orientalist Spirits, and the best part is the fact that attendance is completely free!
