Audi has finally pulled the covers off the Formula 1 contender for its 2026 debut, sans sponsor logos, making the car look like a minimalist’s dream—something pretty on-brand for the German carmaker.
Dubbed the Audi R26 Concept, the car was unveilled at Audi’s Brand Experience Centre in Munich, Germany, just 115 days before its first race.
Pure Audi, through and through

“By entering the pinnacle of motorsport, Audi is making a clear, ambitious statement,” says Audi CEO Gernot Döllner. “It is the next chapter in the company’s renewal. Formula 1 will be a catalyst for the change towards a leaner, faster, and more innovative Audi.”
But Audi isn’t just joining the F1 circus for bragging rights. The carmaker is focusing on transformation, both on and off the track, with the R26 Concept embodying Audi’s fresh design philosophy: clear, technical, intelligent, and emotional.
In terms of aesthetics, the R26 Concept sports a colour palette of titanium, carbon black, and the newly introduced Audi red. It’s very minimal but equally aggressive, something you probably don’t want to see rushing up behind you in your rear-view mirror.

And for the first time, Audi’s iconic Four Rings are tinged a fiery red.
“We are implementing a unifying design language that draws together every aspect of our organisation. This makes the Formula 1 project a pioneer for the new brand identity,” says Chief Creative Officer Massimo Frascella.
At the beginning of 2025, Audi acquired the Sauber Group outright (they currently run Stake F1 Team KICK Sauber), cementing its F1 base in Switzerland while also welcoming Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund as an investor.

On the racing side, the team will be led by a few familiar faces (if you keep up with F1, that is). Among them are former Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto and Red Bull veteran Jonathan Wheatley, both reporting directly to Döllner.
Behind the wheel, there’s a mix of experience and future potential in German driver Nico Hülkenberg and young Brazilian talent Gabriel Bortoleto, both currently driving for Stake F1 Team KICK Sauber in the 2025 season.
“Formula 1 is more than just motorsport,” says Audi CFO Jürgen Rittersberger. “It’s entertainment, emotion, technology—and also a challenge. But it is precisely this combination that takes us where we want to go: inspiring new customer groups for Audi.”

The car, with official sponsor livery and all, will be unveilled in January 2026. But everything is leading up to one moment, of course: March 2026 in Melbourne, Australia, when Audi will officially line up on the grid for its first-ever Formula 1 Grand Prix.
