Anwar Sues Muhyiddin Over Claim Of Previous RM15 Million Annual Pay As Selangor Gov’t Adviser
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has filed a defamation lawsuit against former prime minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, in an effort to recover damages and prevent the latter from making false statements about his prior salary of RM15 million annually as the Selangor government’s adviser.
The statements were made by Muhyiddin during an election campaign talk on December 5 for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat.
Anwar claimed that the comments were false, deceitful, and intended to garner cheap publicity for personal, political, and electoral benefits in the lawsuit he filed today at the High Court in Kuala Lumpur.
It is reported that Anwar is suing Muhyiddin for purported defamation and is requesting general, compensatory, aggravated, and exemplary damages.
He is also seeking a court order or injunction to prevent Muhyiddin from employing the same or equivalent defamatory language in future statements, writings, publications, or distributions.
