ANIMATED STILLS: Ellie Yong’s Ethereal Fantasy
From a young age, Ellie Yong gravitated towards the arts subject in school and even had an inkling early on that she would expand her passion into a career, even if she did not know what she would specialise in. Eventually, she found her footing in illustration as it could convey narratives influenced by her many inspirations, be it nature, wandering thoughts, or her mood. Currently, she freelances fulltime and her work was featured on various newspaper outlets – even more impressive still, her latest piece of art could be seen plastered across the back alley walls of SS2. The collaborative mural stemmed from an idea of offering as a gesture, and the resulting effort is a serene being offering light to passersby. In addition to the ethereal themes, feminine figures are also recurrent in her work; it can be attributed to her preference for the fluid and elegant form of a woman.
