Altın Gün Bring Anatolian Psych-Rock To KL This July

Kuala Lumpur is about to get a heady dose of hypnotic groove and fuzzed-out folklore.

Altın Gün, the GRAMMY Award-nominated torchbearers of Anatolian psych-folk, are finally making their long-awaited debut in the city.

Formed in Amsterdam in 2016 by bassist Jasper Verhulst, the band began as a simple callout, a Facebook post searching for Turkish musicians. What came out of it was anything but simple. Altın Gün have since built a cult following around their ability to electrify traditional Turkish folk songs, threading them through thick basslines, motorik rhythms and shimmering psychedelia that feels both archival and futuristic.

Fresh off their North American tour, the band is now setting its sights on Southeast Asia, with Kuala Lumpur locked in for their first-ever show here. The timing couldn’t be better. Their latest album, Garip, released on 20 February 2026, sees them continuing to stretch their sound, equal parts nostalgic and unhinged in the best way.

The KL show is set to take place on 17 July starting 8:00 p.m. at Vox Live, a fittingly intimate space for a band that thrives on raw, immersive energy.

Sharing the bill are local heavyweights Capt’n Trips & The Kid and Golden Mammoth, two acts that have been quietly shaping the city’s underground psych and stoner rock circuits.
