Upfront continues with English three-piece indie rock band The Cribs. Currently consisting of twins Gary and Ryan Jarman and their younger brother Ross Jarman, the band formerly had the very veritable ex-The Smiths and Modest Mouse guitarist Johnny Marr. Still, his departure doesn’t affect the band’s status as “the biggest cult band in the UK” (as claimed by Q Magazine), Marr only joined much later in their career after all. In fact, a year after his exist from The Cribs, the band was honoured with the ‘Spirit of Independence’ award by Q Awards along with ‘Outstanding Contribution to Music’ award by NME Awards. Upfront had brought down other UK bands before, but here’s one that’s more than yet another buzz band — The Cribs has been holding the fort since 2002 as the UK’s rearguard to the invasion of indie American bands of that decade.
