Heineken and JUICE have decided that other states in West Malaysia will get a microcosmic taste of Thirst. Happening throughout the month before Thirst 2013, Heineken Thirst x JUICE Pre Party Series rounds up the best dance acts the country has to offer (one being a Hardwell Publishing signee!) and brings them to three essential cities – creating something of a migratory route to the real thing for punters nationwide.

Malaysia, prepare for a mass exodus headed by us party prophets.

IPOH
Date Saturday 16 November
Lineup Brains & the Eye (BATE), Phil K Lee, Yenn Lim

Sensation of Sound (S.O.S)
15-17, Jalan Raja Ekram
30450 Ipoh, Perak
www.facebook.com/Sensation0fSound
Located right smack in the middle of the city, S.O.S is an amalgam of the two prominent nightlife joints you’d find in Kuala Lumpur; 1) the super clubs ala Zouk and Vertigo, and 2) club-cum-event spaces such as Soju Room. It’s a space that includes a giant LED display equipped with the best video mixing technology, high-end lighting system, and décor tailor made for a mini-rave. In other words, the perfect place to emulate that big room, trance-y sound of Thirst 2013.

BATE

When JUICE listed Brains & the Eye (BATE) as one of the new local acts to watch out for back in 2011, we had no idea their rise to EDM fame would be so meteoric. Easily the hardest working duo in the DJ scene, having fist-pumped, knob twisted, and piano fingered the crowd to euphoria , Ethan Curzon and Yeoh Wai Hong proved their worth as festival DJs at Tiësto Club Life in September. Because it seems like we might just be that prophetic in our claims (instead of being our usual hyperbolic self), we wager they’ll be the next Goldfish & Blink – better start making your own music soon, boys!

Phil K Lee

It would be redundant by now to list down Phil K Lee’s credentials, but for the sake of the uninitiated, here we go. While Phil had DJed for some time already before he was involved in Found @ Thirst in 2010, opening for Godskitchen Boombox, his prominence only quadrupled by then. The Thirst veteran has played alongside the likes of Fatboy Slim, Avicii, Tiësto, The Chemical Brothers, and more within the 3 years after his debut at the first Thirst event. When not performing for huge raves, Phil is also a regular resident at one of KL’s top clubbing spots, Vertigo.

Yenn Lim

Having just entered the DJ scene in 2012, Yenn Lim is unabashedly a newbie, and a female one at that. But don’t use either of those against her, the world would have been depleted of new talents had we brush them off just like that, so allow us to make a case for Yenn. For one, while her personal taste can be more in line with minimal, Berlin-borne techno, she’s not opposed to playing for a crowd and changing music genres at a whim. Yenn is also a big proponent of house. To date, she’s had a residency at Mai Bar, Aloft Hotel and had been one of the semi-finalists for Pioneer Digital DJ Battle 2012.
