Kuala Lumpur alternative rock band Angkasatu is back with ‘Miss June’, a new single that leans into longing, memory, and the kind of nostalgia that is probably better left alone.
Released on 30 July 2026, ‘Miss June’ is a melancholic rock track brushed with dream pop textures. Built around the memory of a fictional figure named Miss June, the song sits somewhere between distortion and daydream, pairing aching guitar lines with a hazy, floating atmosphere.
The band describes the track as a reflection on longing and the bitterness that can come with looking back. It is sentimental without being overly sweet, carried instead by raw guitars and a DIY sensibility that gives the song its character.
That DIY approach is not just part of the story, either. ‘Miss June’ was produced entirely from A to Z in a bedroom, with limited equipment and devices. Rather than sanding down the imperfections, those restrictions became part of the recording itself, leaving behind a rougher, more intimate texture that suits the song.

The result is a track that pulls from the softer edges of alternative rock while keeping one foot firmly in the bedroom.
Fans of The Smashing Pumpkins, Turnover, Sweetass, and Undercover Dream Club may find something familiar in its mix of melancholy, distortion, and dreamy guitar work.
Formed in 2023, Angkasatu is made up of Akasha on vocals and guitar, Totoy on lead guitar, Manfe on bass, and T on drums. The Kuala Lumpur four-piece has built its sound around social observation, satire, emotional storytelling, melancholic melodies, and riffs that are easy to latch onto.
With ‘Miss June’, the band strips things back to the essentials. No elaborate studio setup, no attempt to polish away every rough edge, just a song built around feeling and whatever was available in the room.
Sometimes, that is enough to make the memory stick around.
‘Miss June’ is available to stream now. The band has also released an official visualiser for the track.
