Japanese experimental rock veterans Boris are heading to the Kuala Lumpur area this September, bringing their notoriously heavy, unpredictable sound to Studio AB in Petaling Jaya on 4 September 2026.

The show is part of the band’s “PINK” 20th Anniversary Southeast Asian Tour, marking two decades since the release of PINK, the 2005 album that saw Boris push their blend of sludge, noise, psychedelic rock, drone, and experimental music into stranger territory.

For the uninitiated, Boris are hardly the kind of band that stays neatly inside one genre.

Formed in Tokyo in 1992, the trio of Takeshi, Wata, and Atsuo have spent more than three decades moving between crushing doom, psychedelic rock, drone, noise, punk, and electronic experimentation, often within the same record.

PINK remains one of their most celebrated releases, balancing huge walls of distortion with psychedelic textures, noise, and unexpectedly melodic moments. Its 20th anniversary gives the band a reason to revisit the record while bringing their famously intense live show back to Southeast Asia.

The Kuala Lumpur-area stop will take place at Studio AB, located at Ground Floor, Wisma Ali Bawal 2, 11 Jalan Tandang, Petaling Jaya. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., with the show starting at 8:00 p.m.

Tickets are priced at RM268 for presale, available until 3 September 2026. Door tickets will cost RM298, while the early-bird allocation has already sold out.

Tickets are available through CloudJoi.

20 years on, PINK still sits comfortably in the Boris catalogue as one of the records that captures exactly what makes the band so difficult to pin down. Now, it gets a Southeast Asian anniversary run, with Petaling Jaya on the itinerary.
