While football fans are turning to AI, statistics, and expert pundits to predict World Cup results, Malaysian streetwear brand SyokGeng has found an unexpected crowd favourite: Biskut, its pet tortoise.

Through the Instagram account @lord_tortoise, Biskut has become an unlikely internet sensation by making playful predictions ahead of World Cup matches.

The tortoise made its first prediction on 11 June for the Mexico vs South Africa fixture. The idea was inspired by Paul the Octopus, the famous sea creature that gained worldwide attention during the 2010 FIFA World Cup for correctly predicting several match outcomes. Since then, Biskut’s videos have racked up more than three million views, with its prediction for Argentina vs Cape Verde alone drawing 1.7 million views.

SyokGeng created a dedicated account for Biskut, giving the tortoise its own online personality throughout the tournament. Followers can keep up with each prediction as if they were following a football commentator with a very unconventional method.

Here’s one of Biskut’s most recent accurate predictions:

As football fever continues to dominate social media, Biskut has carved out its own niche by offering fans something fun to look forward to before kick-off.

Rather than trying to rival analysts or data models, the videos lean into humour and unpredictability, encouraging supporters to join in with their own guesses and reactions. The account has also attracted viewers from outside Malaysia, with football fans from around the world filling the comments section.

According to SyokGeng, Biskut isn’t trained to choose a specific team before filming. Every prediction is made naturally, and the tortoise gets extra fruit as a reward after each shoot. New prediction videos are released before major World Cup matches, giving fans another reason to tune in before the action begins.

Whether Biskut actually gets the results right isn’t really the point.

While football discussions are filled with advanced analytics, AI-generated forecasts, and endless debates, the tortoise has shown that a simple idea can still capture people’s attention.

With a mix of football, humour and personality, SyokGeng has turned its pet tortoise into an unexpected viral star… and we’re loving every second of it.
