A suspended senior officer linked to Bukit Aman is now under investigation for his alleged involvement in a string of armed robberies in Kepong, with total losses estimated at RM4.4 million.

City police chief Fadil Marsus confirmed that the suspect, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), was previously attached to the Commercial Crime Investigation Department before being suspended on 23 January.

According to Fadil, the officer is believed to have played a key role in running the operation, including planning the robberies and coordinating the group’s movements. He was arrested alongside five others, among them two bodyguards, in connection with a series of break-ins targeting expatriate homes in Kepong.

The group, aged between 31 and 51, allegedly impersonated police officers to gain access to the houses. One suspect reportedly used a pistol-like object to threaten victims.

Authorities say the syndicate stole luxury vehicles such as a Toyota Alphard, Rolls-Royce, and Bentley, along with a safe, RM24,200 in cash, US$1,200, jewellery, and two gold bars, pushing total losses beyond RM4.4 million.

Investigations also revealed that the bodyguards involved used legally licensed firearms during the robberies.

Fadil described the case as a serious breach of integrity within the police force, warning that such actions erode public trust and go against the core responsibilities of law enforcement. He stressed that action will be taken regardless of rank, and that investigations are still ongoing.
