Breakout Shoegazer Wisp Brings ‘If Not Winter’ Tour To KL

There is a particular kind of quiet that only shoegaze can weaponise.

Not silence, but saturation. Reverb stacked until feeling turns physical, distortion blooming into something tender rather than aggressive. Wisp understands this language fluently, and in 2026, she is bringing it back to Southeast Asia.

Skesh Entertainment has announced that American shoegaze artist and viral phenomenon Wisp will return to the region as part of her If Not Winter tour, with five headline dates across Bangkok, Manila, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta. The run includes her first-ever shows in Singapore and Indonesia, a significant marker in an ascent that has been anything but modest.

Wisp, born Natalie Lu, first broke through in 2023 with ‘Your face’, a track that felt like it slipped through the internet’s cracks and lodged itself somewhere permanent. The song has since surpassed 130 million streams on Spotify and landed at number 10 on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, an impressive feat for a genre that usually lives just outside the mainstream’s peripheral vision.

At 21, Lu has already become shorthand for a new generation of shoegaze listeners who want their music heavy, intimate, and unashamedly emotional.

Her sound sits at a compelling intersection.

There are the gauzy guitar layers and spectral vocals associated with genre touchstones like Slowdive and Whirr, but also the melodic instincts of dream pop and the bruised honesty of folk songwriting. Lu has cited influences ranging from Mazzy Star to Adrienne Lenker, and that breadth shows. Wisp’s songs feel diaristic without being self-indulgent, romantic without collapsing into nostalgia. They drift, but they never disappear.

Released in August 2025, If Not Winter marks Lu’s full-length debut and a clear evolution from her earlier work. Once a computer science student making music in her bedroom, she now sounds fully in command of her sonic palette. The album expands her emotional range while sharpening her songwriting, pulling from journal entries and everyday observations to build a world of misted textures and quietly unraveling confessionals. It is shoegaze that breathes, aches, and occasionally bares its teeth.

The Southeast Asian tour follows a defining year.

Wisp has graced stages at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and Camp Flog Gnaw, while also sharing bills with System of a Down and Deftones, an unlikely pairing that somehow makes perfect sense. With more than 250 million streams to her name and endorsements from outlets like NPR, The New York Times, and The Los Angeles Times, she has amassed a devoted global following known affectionately as “Wispers”, fans who show up ready to feel everything at once.

“I wanted to challenge myself to break out of the sound that a lot of people are used to hearing me in,” Lu has said of her recent work. That restlessness is central to Wisp’s appeal. She is not interested in repeating herself, even when the formula works. Instead, she keeps testing the boundaries of softness and distortion, vulnerability and volume.

Audiences across Southeast Asia can expect a set that moves fluidly through her catalogue, from reverb-drenched anthems to hypnagogic lullabies. Fan favourites like ‘Sword’ and ‘Enough for you’ are likely to make an appearance, alongside the fragile, searching title track that gives the tour its name. Live, Wisp’s music does not simply wash over you. It presses in, surrounds, and lingers.
