Malaysia’s very own Bunuhdiri are heading to Japan this August, promising four nights of bone-crushing intensity that go far beyond your average metal tour.

They’ll kick things off alongside Italian brutal death giants Putridity in Osaka on 8 August and Tokyo on 9 August, before tearing through Tokyo’s Earthdom on 10 August and Yokohama’s El Puente on 11 August.

For Bunuhdiri, this isn’t just about loud riffs and guttural vocals. The homegrown band, whose name translates to “suicide” in Malay, channels something deeper: the idea of killing off the worst parts of yourself and rebuilding from the wreckage. It’s an approach that comes through loud and clear in their music, a raw and punishing mix of brutal death metal precision and fearless experimentation.

Since their debut single ‘Dermatillomania’ in 2016, Bunuhdiri have stood out in Malaysia’s extreme metal scene for their technical skill and unrelenting honesty. Their latest EP, Cosmic Rebirth (2024), pushes even further, blending intricate riffs, blistering blast beats and unexpected saxophone solos into something that feels as thoughtful as it is aggressive.

Playing alongside Putridity is a statement in itself. Sharing the stage with a respected name from Italy’s brutal death scene highlights just how far Bunuhdiri have come.

But true to their philosophy, it isn’t about seeking approval. It’s about facing your own darkness, leaving what no longer serves you behind and emerging reborn.
