Shopping on TikTok isn’t just an impulse scroll anymore, it’s become a daily habit.
TikTok Shop recently revealed it’s clocking over 100 million product searches every single day from Malaysian users alone, a figure shared at its biggest industry event of the year, the TikTok Shop Summit in Kuala Lumpur.
This boom is more than just numbers. According to Nur Azre Abdul Aziz, TikTok Shop Malaysia’s Director of Strategic Partnerships, Malaysians are turning to the platform for everything from spontaneous buys to planned shopping. “As consumer confidence deepened, we’ve seen shoppers using TikTok Shop both to discover new products and to look for what they already want,” Nur Azre said.
TikTok Shop’s formula for this growth leans heavily on “Shoppertainment”, making online shopping feel less like a transaction and more like an experience.
It’s a strategy that seems to work especially well for local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and homegrown brands hoping to reach a national audience without huge budgets.

At the summit, thousands of local sellers, creators, and partners got a look at the platform’s latest tools designed to help them grow.
New features include the GMV Max automation tool to help boost sales, the Affiliate Creatives for Ads (ACA) feature, and the Opportunity Center that helps sellers spot fresh trends. There are also promotional tools like New Arrival Discounts, the Product Data Synchronisation tool for smoother uploads, and the Affiliate Link feature to make collaborations easier. Top creators can now also earn a Star Creator badge to help them stand out.
For shoppers, TikTok Shop has added new perks too. There’s now a 30-day free return option for items bought from TikTok Shop Mall, more flexible payment choices with TikTok PayLater, and next-day delivery being tested in parts of Klang Valley, Johor, and Penang. TikTok PayLater also comes with spending limits and affordability checks to keep things responsible.

All this effort is translating into real sales. During the 6.6 Sale in June, TikTok Shop Malaysia saw a 140% year-on-year boost in sales.
Ramadan and Raya promotions in March brought in over 100% growth, and the Chinese New Year Huat Sale in January saw sales jump by over 90% compared to last year.
With the year-end mega sales season around the corner, TikTok Shop is planning to double its platform discount vouchers and give twice the platform support to brands on TikTok Shop Mall in the second half of 2025.

For local sellers, it’s a chance to keep the momentum going.
Aspiring entrepreneurs, MSMEs, and anyone curious about selling online can check out the TikTok Shop Seller Center or browse step-by-step guides on TikTok Shop Academy to get started.
TikTok Shop has grown into much more than just an add-on to the main TikTok app.
It’s now a full shopping ecosystem, complete with live shopping, shoppable videos, and a marketplace under the Shop Tab.
And if these numbers are anything to go by, Malaysians are only getting more comfortable blending entertainment and e-commerce in their daily scroll.
