Not every child gets to watch a hit movie in a cinema, let alone Malaysia’s biggest animated film. But on 4 June, REV Media Group made that dream come true for 100 children and families from two Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) communities across the Klang Valley.

The special screening of Ejen Ali: The Movie 2 was more than just a movie outing. It was a full-blown celebration, complete with popcorn, laughter, and a surprise visit from the beloved Ejen Ali and Ejen Alicia mascots. For many of the guests, it was their first time watching a film in a proper cinema. For some, it was a long-overdue break from the grind of daily life.

The event was part of REV’s Tech For Good initiative, a core element of the company’s social-focused ESG efforts. In collaboration with Primeworks Studios and social enterprise Pepper Labs, REV hosted 200 attendees in total. This included 100 beneficiaries from the PPR communities and 100 REV employees along with their families, creating a rare chance for meaningful connection across different walks of life.

“We’re thankful for the opportunity to bring Malaysia’s highest-grossing animated film to communities that might not otherwise have had access,” said Samuel Wee, CEO of REV Media Group.

“At REV, we believe in using technology and media to make a difference. Our Tech For Good program is all about creating real impact, and moments like this, seeing the joy on the faces of children and families, truly capture what we stand for.”

The film, which pulled in RM40.6 million at the box office, remains a cultural milestone for Malaysian animation. Sharing that success with communities that often get left out of such experiences is a reminder that entertainment can do more than just entertain. It can uplift, connect, and inspire.

The initiative also highlights REV’s commitment to community engagement, using its influence in the media landscape to bring joy and visibility to underserved groups. More than a CSR checkbox, it was a clear example of what happens when companies put heart into action.

As families left the cinema still buzzing with excitement, the message was clear. A good story on screen is powerful. But sharing that story with others who need it most? That’s where the real magic happens.
