If you’re tired of swiping left into oblivion and want to actually meet people in the real world (wild concept, I know), Matchbox KL has some killer events lined up. Whether you’re into classy bar hangs, social sports, or just looking for an excuse to get out, here’s what’s coming up in Q1:

A Single Social With A Twist

Valentine’s Day. A corporate lovefest for couples? Maybe. But for those who are single and would rather not third-wheel a best friend’s candlelit dinner, this event offers an alternative.

On 14 February, Matchbox KL is taking over Louie’s, one of the most intimate (and classy) bars in KL, located in Damansara Heights. The usual awkward small talk is being ditched in favour of a bingo icebreaker, designed to get everyone loosened up. This time, alcohol is also being introduced into the mix, because sometimes, a little liquid courage goes a long way.

No pressure, no speed-dating formalities—just an easygoing, intentional, intimate, and chill space to meet new people. Perhaps a spark will ignite, or maybe some cool new friends will be made. Either way, it certainly beats doomscrolling at home.

Bonus? Matchbox KL is collaborating with Open House International, a DJ agency, ensuring the vibes are on point. This collaboration was actually their idea, and saying no wasn’t an option. The cherry on top? Hosting the event in one of the city’s finest bars.

Single And Ready To Pickle?

Last year, Matchbox KL also hosted KL’s first-ever singles pickleball event, and it was such a hit that suddenly, other dating organisers started rolling out their own versions. Coincidence? Probably not.

For the uninitiated, pickleball is the lovechild of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. It’s ridiculously fun, super social, and the best part? It naturally breaks the ice. No pressure, no stiff introductions—just good vibes, healthy competition, and a chance to meet people in a way that doesn’t feel forced.

At the time, Matchbox KL partnered with a newly opened pickleball court and secured sponsorship from SuperGulp, an up-and-coming KL health drink brand. The players enjoyed it so much that bringing them back for round two was a no-brainer.
