It’s currently sakura (or cherry blossom) season in Japan. You know what this means — getting jealous of all your friends posting whimsical photos of their Sakura-filled vacation in Japan while you’re stuck in Malaysia having to endure this searing heat and heavy rain.

But what if there was a chance for you to fly to Japan for free? Well, not everything is too good to be true, at least if you WIN a pair of tickets to the popular holiday destination.

Win one pair of tickets to Japan and other prizes

In collaboration with the Japan National Tourism Organization Kuala Lumpur Office (JNTO KL), LaLaport BBCC has launched a campaign in which participants (like you) can win a slew of prizes. This includes a Sony ZV-1F vlog camera for the runner-up, and a pair of tickets to Japan, along with LaLaport cash vouchers for the winner!

It’s pretty simple. All you need to do is show off your best dance moves to ‘Idol’ by YOASOBI (23-second chorus) and share it on social media with the hashtag #LaLaportSakuraDance. But there’s a catch! You need to film the video at LaLaport BBCC during the Sakura Festival, running from 23 April to 19 May 2024.

If you’re planning to travel to Japan anytime soon, it’s actually not too late to enjoy sakura season

While sakura blooms depend on location and weather, they usually take place as early as late February and end as late as mid-May. This means you’ve still got a ton of time to plan out your dream sakura vacation.

Whether you’re marvelling at the 2,600+ cherry trees surrounding the iconic Hirosaki Castle in Aomori Prefecture, or taking a leisurely stroll through Goryokaku Park in Hokkaido Prefecture, there’s a ton of sakura trees for your enjoyment.

Plus, the Japanese Yen is currently at a 34-year low. So you’ll definitely be able to get much more for your money this time!

The winner of the Sakura Dance Challenge will be announced on 27 May.
