Dave Bautista Relieved To Exit MCU After ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Release
After a 10-year run with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Dave Bautista is ready to say goodbye.
Dave Bautista, who plays Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy film franchise, has confirmed that the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be his last film with Marvel.
“I’m so grateful for Drax. I love him. But there’s a relief [that it’s over]. It wasn’t all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down. And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy – it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff,” said Bautista in a GQ cover story.
After departing from the WWE, Guardians of the Galaxy was Bautista’s first major role.
Despite his struggles to land roles, Bautista stated that, “I never wanted to be the next Rock. I just want to be a good f*cking actor. A respected actor.”
Bautista continued by saying that he just wants to be a better actor, who earns respect from his peers.
Since his breakout role of Drax, Bautista has landed many roles in major films outside of the MCU such as Blade Runner 2049, Dune, and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
Catch Bautista in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 theaters on May 2023.
