Upon Elon Musk’s recent acquisition of Twitter, the company has been through some chaos like never seen before.

From eliminating half of Twitter’s workforce to the failure of the $8 Twitter verification, the drastic changes to the platform have caused various celebrities to leave the platform.

While many celebrities have already left the platform beforehand due to the negativity and hatred that circulated on Twitter, many drew the line when Musk decided to reinstate Donald Trump’s account after 15 million people allegedly voted in a Twitter poll to bring the former president back to the platform.

Here’s a list of celebrities who decided that it was time to bid Twitter goodbye.

Pedro Pascal

Fans of The Mandalorian actor discovered that he quietly left Twitter after reinstating of Donald Trump’s account. Pascal has been an avid user of the platform and frequently voices his stance regarding socio-political issues. 

Whoopi Goldberg

The moderator of ABC’s The View announced that she would be leaving Twitter as the platform has become “so messy”.

Shonda Rhimes

American television screenwriter, Shonda Rhimes, decided to leave Twitter as she did not want to see what Musk has in store for the platform. 

Gigi Hadid

Well-known model, Gigi Hadid, announced her departure from the platform on her Instagram stories. Hadid wrote that it was a long-time coming as Twitter is a “cesspool of hate”, but decided to draw the line with its new leadership.

Toni Braxton

The American singer left Twitter after witnessing hate speech that was under the disguise of “free speech” circulated. She decided to leave as “it is no longer a safe space for myself, my sons, and other POC.”

Sara Bareilles

“Welp. It’s been fun Twitter. I’m out,” Bareilles tweeted. While her account continues to exist on the app, she has not liked or tweeted anything since the end of October.

Jack White

After Musk reinstated Trump’s account, Jack White left a lengthy note for Musk on Instagram as to why he decided to leave. 

“So you gave Trump his Twitter platform back. Absolutely disgusting, Elon,” he wrote. “That is officially an asshole move.”

Trent Reznor

“We don’t need the arrogance of the billionaire class to feel like they can just come in and solve everything. Even without him involved, I just find that it has become such a toxic environment,” the American musician shared in The Hollywood Reporter interview.

“For my mental health, I need to tune out. I don’t feel good being there anymore.”

Erik Larsen

The comic book artist left Twitter after Musk bought the platform.

“Yeah, I left. I said I would leave if Musk bought Twitter. Musk bought Twitter,” he said in an email to NBC News. “So, I had no choice. The move only emboldened those most toxic users. The racists, ‘patriots’ and creeps are back in full force.”

Interestingly enough, brands such as Balenciaga, General Motors, and Eli Lilly left the platform as well.

With the current progression of Twitter, users are worried and some harkening the impending doom of the platform – the day when everyone says goodbye to Twitter.
