The era of online dating has proved successful and beneficial for many, but otherwise for some.

Things are especially tricky when two people (or more, you do you) are separated by distance, but this Malaysian woman persevered and decided to drive all the way to Melaka to meet with a guy she’d been talking to.

She discussed this matter, along with more of her dating woes, via a post on Facebook:

“I don’t want to generalise males in general, but the men I’ve met appear to have issues. This guy I met is from Melaka, and I’m from KL. We met online and kept in touch for about four to five months before deciding to meet up,” she wrote, explaining that he finds it challenging to travel to KL because of his job schedule, so she opted to go to Melaka.

“On that day, I was able to leave work early and made the decision to travel there to meet him. We even agreed on a time and location, but while I was driving to Melaka, he informed me that something had come up. He said he would meet me later if he had time, so I should just hang around,” she said.

She said that she felt terrible because it appeared that he wasn’t sincere about meeting her. She lingered within the area for over an hour before deciding to leave because she wasn’t sure if he would show or not.

“He stopped responding to me, so I just informed him that I was returning to KL. He texted me a few hours after I arrived in KL, and it was clear from the conversation that it was merely a formality. I’m not the type to force a conversation,” she continued.

After this occurrence, she met another man who hails from Penang. She noted that he was initially quite genuine and would frequently keep her informed regarding his whereabouts.

“Shortly after, he asked if I’d be interested in dating. However, I felt that it was not right because we have not yet met. He afterwards indicated his willingness to travel to KL so that we could meet,” she remarked.

Although they had set a date to meet, when that day arrived, he began making excuses, such as that he didn’t have enough money for gas or that he was “worried he would get bored”.

“He claimed he isn’t used to travelling to foreign countries and is concerned that his time in KL will be uninteresting. He also worried that I might not treat him nicely once he got to KL and proposed that I travel to Penang instead,” she continued, concluding the publication by stating that she is perplexed as to why she keeps running into men of this calibre and questions whether she is to blame for this.

Could it just be bad luck? What do you think?
