WATCH: 3-Year-Old Boy Hit By Oncoming Car While Sprinting Across Busy Street In Kelantan
After running across the street and being hit by an approaching vehicle, a 3-year-old boy was left with broken bones and bodily injuries. The accident, which occurred around 3.30 p.m, took place on Jalan Wakaf Aik in Bachok, Kelantan on Tuesday (9 August).
Around the 00:27-second mark, the dashcam footage clearly shows the boy sprinting across the road before a man standing beside him, presumed to be his father, could intervene.
An approaching car, unable to switch directions in time, collided with the boy and rammed into a Perodua Myvi on the opposite side of the road. Fortunately, neither driver was injured.
The victim has been identified as Mohamad Naufal Zafran Abdul Fattah and is currently being treated at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) Kubang Kerian, as per Bachok police chief Superintendent Mohd Ismail Jamaluddin.
Jamaluddin said that preliminary investigations found that the 30-year-old driver who hit the boy was driving a Proton Exora MPV taxi from Besut towards Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Bharu after dropping off passengers at Kuala Besut Jetty, Terengganu.
He also confirmed that the victim had suffered a broken right clavicle.
The case is being probed under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act of 1987.
