“Best Day Ever!”: Britney Spears Overwhelmed With Joy as Conservatorship Ends
This has been a long time coming. After 13 long years of being under an abusive conservatorship by her father, pop icon Britney Jean Spears is finally free.
On Friday, the Los Angeles Country Superior Court ruled in favour of Britney’s request to end her conservatorship.
Outside the court, fans and members of the #FreeBritney movement gathered and were overjoyed with the news.

Britney took to Twitter to thank fans and claim it being the “best day ever” for her. She has also expressed before that the #FreeBritney movement by fans had helped greatly in freeing her from the conservatorship and ending Britney’s most traumatising years.
After a series of public mental health dips in 2008, Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, filed for an emergency temporary conservatorship over his daughter. This meant the start of Jamie legally being able to control all areas of Britney’s finances, health, and business deals due to her being deemed unfit to care for herself.
But in a recent (now deleted) Instagram post by Britney, she wrote that despite Jamie being the public face of the conservatorship, it was her mother, Lynne who allegedly gave him the idea.
She wrote, “What people don’t know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea, I will never get those years back… she secretly ruined my life.”
The terms of the conservatorship were far from fair. Britney has said that she is unable to take out an intrauterine device (IUD) from her body because the conservatorship does not allow her to have a baby. She has also come out with other horrifying accounts of being overworked and drugged against her will.
Britney’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart said her success in ending the legal agreement could help ensure that “conservatorships like this… do not happen again”.
Since the great news broke out, long time friend of Spears, Paris Hilton also spoke in support, saying that Britney’s “best days are yet to come”. Indeed they are.
