Pedophile Who Has Been Abusing Children for 14 Years in Sarawak Finally Captured
Pedophilia is one of the most despicable crimes in the history of time and it is appalling to know that there has been an assailant residing in the otherwise peaceful district of Lundu, Sarawak.
For 14 years, 40-year-old Alladin Lanim has been traumatising children within the age range of 2 to 16 years old. The criminal often boasted about his revolting exploits on forums enshrouded by the dark web.
He has since uploaded over 1000 images and videos of him abusing children.
While his capture today is a cause for celebration, it is harrowing to know that this almost did not happen if not for the sleuthing done by the Australian specialist investigators.
The breakthrough happened in 2020 when Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation’s victim identification unit found a lead.
The investigation was tedious and required excessive effort. The task-force in Australia and Malaysia had to sift through countless images to place victims so they could narrow the location of the assailant.
In July, they finally tracked him down at an isolation centre where he was serving a mandatory period after a visit to peninsula Malaysia. The police waited until he was allowed to leave before apprehending him.
Alladin pleaded guilty to 18 charges and was sentenced to 48 years in prison and 15 strokes of the cane.
Alladin lured his victims by allowing them to play games on his phone. He then would show the victims pornography. He mostly molested children from plantation areas in Lundu.
It is believed that he had more than 34 victims.
Assistant Commissioner Siti Kamsiah Hassan of the Royal Malaysia Police’s Sexual, Women and Child Investigation Division attributed the cooperation between Australian and Malaysian police to the capture of such a prolific serial abuser.
With this arrest, we hope that it will ward off any future predators from attempting this hateful crime.
Until then, the children in Lundu are at least a little bit safer.
