3-Year-Old Girl Orders Birthday Cake Featuring Mufasa’s Death Scene From The Lion King
Anyone who has watched The Lion King – the original animation, not the blasphemous CG live-action remake – would remember the gut-wrenching scene where young Simba discovers that his father has died after falling from a cliff no thanks to Uncle Scar.
The scene could be considered traumatic for a child (still is to me), but not for 3-year-old Leona, who requested a baker to depict that exact scene for her birthday cake.
What drove her to choose the morbid design was actually her shrewd business-mind. “Everyone will be too sad to eat the cake, and it will all be for me,” she said, according to the Twitter post.
Her uncle, comedian Casey Feigh posted pictures of her with the cake on Twitter, which has gotten hundreds of likes and replies about her choice of imagery for the cake.
The cake was designed by Thirsty Whale Bakery and featured an edible Mufasa lying at the base of the cliff with a dejected Simba standing at the top, looking down at him. “Leona Turns 3” was also written in red next to Mufasa’s cold carcass.
In an interview with Today, Alison Feigh, Leona’s mother said she was embarrassed to call the bakery to ask for that special request, so she emailed them instead. “I was like, I’ll put it in writing and send, click. The worst they can say is no,” she said.
Feigh said the bakery did not just agree to make it but offered her different 3D options for the design, which left young Leona overjoyed.
“Leona is hilarious and quirky,” her mother told Today. “She’s also a very empathetic, sweet kid”.
We gotta say, that was a smart move, Leona!
