Zoo Negara’s Giant Panda Couple Welcomes Their Third Baby
Zoo Negara’s most loved giant panda couple, Liang Liang and Xing Xing has welcomed a new baby on Monday at around 8:30pm in the zoo’s giant panda conservatory.
In a statement, the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) said the baby’s gender can’t be determined yet since the mother is still guarding the cub.
“But zoo officials will continue to monitor both the mother and cub over the next 24 hours,” the department said.
This is the couple’s third cub since their arrival in 2014. The first and second cubs, Nuan Nuan and Yi Yi were born on 18 August 2015 and 14 January 2018 respectively, and both have been returned to China.
Liang Liang and Xing Xing was given to Malaysia to symbolise the 40th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, and the pair will stay here on loan for 10 years.
