Billionaire Philanthropists Bill & Melinda Gates Are Getting a Divorce After 27 Years
Billionaire philanthropists, Bill and Melinda Gates are filing for divorce after 27 years of marriage. They both tweeted a statement on Monday announcing the divorce.
“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” the statement said.
“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives.”

The pair, who met in 1994, “will continue to work together to shape and approve foundation strategies, advocate for the foundation’s issues and set the organisation’s overall direction,” the Gates Foundation said in a statement.
The non-profit Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation was founded in 2000 and ranks as the largest private philanthropic foundation in the United States and one of the biggest in the world.
According to the latest full-year financials shown on its website, the organisation has net assets of USD43.3 billion at the end of 2019.
