US Nuclear Command’s Accidental “Cryptic” Tweet Was Actually From A Child

Since the cryptic tweet “;l;;gmlxzssaw” was published on the US Strategic Command’s account, some netizens have jokingly said it was a nuclear launch code, and some think the Pentagon was hacked while others, well, conspiracy theory of course!

Putting it all to rest, the US Strategic Command that runs the country’s powerful nuclear weapons force says the posting on its Twitter account actually came from a child.

Given that Stratcom manages the US military’s strategic deterrence, its media comments are constantly being monitored for signs of any change in its current defence stance.

However, Stratcom told reporter Mikael Thalen of the Daily Dot that it was no secret message, in fact, it was a result of a Stratcom social media editor working from home.

“The Command’s Twitter manager, while in a telework status, momentarily left the Command’s Twitter account open and unattended. His very young child took advantage of the situation and started playing with the keys and, unfortunately, unknowingly posted the tweet,” Stratcom official Kendall Cooper said to Thalen via a letter.

“Absolutely nothing nefarious occurred, i.e. no hacking of our Twitter account.” Thirty minutes later Stratcom tweeted to dismiss the previous tweet and then deleted both tweets.
