M’sia’s Answer To Tesla, MyKar Unveiled At Sepang Circuit & Will Be Available To M’sians Soon
Everyone is aware of the electrical car brand Tesla and its infamous CEO Elon Musk since it became one of the leading car brands in the world.
Now, Malaysians finally have our own version of Tesla with the locally-engineered MyKar.
EV Innovations, the local start-up behind the electrical car, has just signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) as well as Ingress Corporation Berhad to further develop the project into a roadworthy vehicle.
The prototype for the car, which is a modification of the Honda Jazz, was unveiled recently at Sepang Circuit.
The goal for the car is for it to be “affordable, practical, and easily integrated into the current Malaysian automotive ecosystem”, according to EV Innovations.
While the prototype is already up and running, there’s still a lot more to be done before it’s ready to be driven on our roads as well as roads in other SEA countries.
The company said in a statement,
“While we have come a long way from our first proof of concept prototype, there is still quite a journey to go through in order to achieve our vision.”
They’re still open for partners, be it an institutional strategy partner or an individual retail investor, who wants to help realise this Malaysian dream.
The project started in January 2019 and the vehicle made its first public appearance at the Kuala Lumpur Engineering Science Fair last November.
In case you wondering, here are the specs for the car:
- Weight: 900kg

Despite it still being a prototype, the car is already looking sleek and showing signs of becoming an innovative staple on our roads.
Let’s hope the developers get the backing they need so we can finally have an answer to the acclaimed Tesla.
